Biska Jatra is a vibrant festival celebrated with great enthusiasm in Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur, marking the arrival of the Nepali New Year. Known for its unique display of colors and energy, this festival draws people from across the region who gather to witness the streets transformed into a sea of red, symbolizing strength, passion, and the blessings of deities.

On the day of Sindur Jatra, large processions of devotees carry chariots of various gods and goddesses, including Balkumari,Ganesh, Bhairab, and Siddhikali. Each chariot is carried through the narrow streets of Thimi, accompanied by traditional music, drumbeats, and chanting. People celebrate by throwing vibrant orange-red sindur (vermilion powder) into the air and smearing it on each other, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere where everyone is coated in red hues.

The festival also features energetic dances, masked performances, and rituals honoring the local deities, highlighting the strong cultural identity of the Newar community.
